The Art of  Peter Mathios

Artist's Description:   The idea for this painting evolved from a scene that I observed while studying pintails at Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge in the Willamette Valley. This pair was nestled in against a dark background of water. The dark, rich blues of the water complimented the chocolate head of the pintail drake as well as the drabber browns in the hen. Pintail numbers have declined over the past two decades and strong conservation efforts are underway to help this graceful duck rebound. Proceeds from the sale of the regular edition of this print will help set aside wetland habitat to help this duck and many other bird species.
