The Art of  Peter Mathios

Artist's Description:  This painting is as much about the surrounding habitat as it is about the mule deer. I wanted to capture the mix of towering, columnar Ponderosa pines and sage brush these deer thrive in.  This mix occurs roughly between 2500' and 4000' east of the Cascades and Sierras. Of note, as well, is a doe that is somewhat camouflaged in the background, which adds to the realism of the painting.
