Original to be Auctioned at Rocky
Mountain Elk Foundation Banquet |
|
|
An original painting that is currently in
progress will be auctioned off at
the Cascade Chapter of the Rocky
Mountain Elk Foundation banquet on
April 14th in Stayton, OR. Their
mission is to ensure the future of
elk, other wildlife and their
habitat. Since 1984, RMEF has
protected and enhanced more than 4.8
million acres of wildlife habitat
all across elk country and funded
more than 5,200 stewardship,
conservation education and hunting
heritage projects in 49 states and
eight Canadian provinces. Along the
way, they have helped open nearly
half a million acres for public
access and hunting. The original
painting to be auctioned is of a
bull elk in an early season
snowfall. Details regarding the
painting will be posted on the
Mathios Studios website soon.

New Original Painting |
|
In the painting "Reflections" (pictured at
left) a pair of black-necked stilts
gracefully searches the water for
tasty morsels. Their long legs and
bill enable them to dig deep into
the mud for aquatic insects. The
overall scene evokes a sense of
peace and tranquility while the
composition hints of Asian
influences. To quote Mill House
Gallery and originalbirdart.com
owner, John Hazelton... "The
painting is a masterpiece! These
delicate birds, thin with sharp
beaks and long thin legs are echoed
by the brush and its thin stems.
These waders have extremely long
legs, the artist showing about half
of their actual length, hence the
name "stilts." Is the bird on the
right looking out for the welfare of
the other, or rebuffed as a possible
mate?" |
