Peter Formally Introduced on Floor of Oregon Senate
Senator Frank Morse and Peter with his commissioned painting
This past June, Peter was formally introduced on the floor of the Oregon Senate by Senator Frank Morse. Mr. Morse commissioned Peter during the past year to create a painting of a scene of a grizzly bear and a moose and calf that he saw on a lake in Canada. The scene was not captured with a camera so Peter and Frank worked together to get the image correct through a series of sketches. Along with the formal introduction, Peter was also his guest for much of the day which included the legislative session, a caucus meeting and a committee meeting. Many thanks to Frank Morse for the wonderful experience.

Oregon Ducks Unlimited to Publish New Print
Greenwings! 24"x18" acrylic on board
A flight of greenwing teal slice through the morning fog. Often times these birds can be heard before they are seen On foggy mornings, if you don't see them coming, you won't see them until they are past. They are fast, erratic flyers that often stay fairly low to the ground. This particular spot is south of Halsey, OR and exemplifies a classic late fall/early winter morning.

This print will be released as the 2010 Oregon Ducks Unlimited Sponsor Print and will be available to those who become DU Sponsors at local Oregon events. As is common with many of Peter's prints, proceeds will benefit wetland habitat throughout the United States. Artist Proofs of the prints will be available this fall.

Artistic Growth
American River #1
This past May, Peter was commissioned to create two large paintings in a loose and colorful style - one of which is pictured to the left. He normally uses a subtle color palette so this was a challenge for him. New colors were purchased and large brushes were used. Not only were two large, bright and colorful paintings produced, but a change in his work became imminent.

Although he still paints realistically, recent paintings have shown subtle increases in color and strategic placements of complimentary colors. It's not the dramatic color that jumps out like in the pictured commission, rather it is the subtle use of vibrant colors to help breathe a bit more life into each painting. There will surely be more direction in this area in the years to come.

New Original Painting
November Teal
November in the Central Valley of California can be a foggy place as clear cool nights ignite the formation of tule fog. As the sun rises on these calm mornings a battle is waged by the sun to try and burn off the fog creating some spectacular and often surreal lighting. This is one such scene as a flock of greenwing teal circle outside a set of decoys getting ready to bank in and land. The water is still allowing for a perfect reflection of the rising sun.

Peter Signs the 2010 Prints
Peter signing and Marie pulling prints
Recently Peter traveled to Milwaukee, WI to sign the 2010 Ducks Unlimited National Stamp prints. Classic Art Prints, known amongst the artist community for their excpetional quality, printed them and once again did an incredible job reproducing the exact colors of the original painting. Tom Zarnoth did the precise color work and Marie Cutraro and her husband Giuseppi hosted Peter for the time it took to sign the prints. This is the third time Peter has visited Classic Art Prints in conjuction with the Ducks Unlimited National Art Package and each time has been great.
