New Original - Snow Storm
Snow Storm 9"x12" Acrylic
This group of snow geese was seen at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge in the Central Valley of California. The refuge and it's surrounding area, which is fed by water from the Sacramento River drainage, is a major wintering ground for these arctic geese. They can form large feeding groups numbering in the tens (or even hundreds) of thousands giving fields in which they are feeding a look of being covered in snow. If disturbed, they will all launch simultaneously into the air and form a large swirling vortex while looking to land again - an incredible sight (and sound).

New Original - Preening Egret
Preening Egret 21"x10" Acrylic
This cattle egret is in it's breeding plumage. Normally, it is a pure white bird, but the orange tinge and wispy feathering show up during the Spring to help attract a mate. The dark background helps highlight the subtle color differences of this elegant bird and the tall narrow composition helps to enhance the graceful shape of the bird. The cattle egret, which often nests in trees with other heron species, is commonly found from the plains of Africa to the agricultural fields of the United States.

2009 Oregon Ducks Unlimited Sponsor Print
Fern Ridge Redhead 10"x14" Limited Edition Print
A handsome drake redhead comes barreling into an early Spring marsh. He is using his feet to both, help steer and slow himself down. The brilliant reddish head is a signature marking of the duck which can be distinguished from the similar looking canvasback by the coloration of the bill and the grayer side and back feathers.

This print will be available in a regular edition of 550 hand-signed and numbered prints throughout the year. You can own a regular edition print by becoming an Oregon Ducks Unlimited sponsor for $250. The majority of the proceeds of your sponosorship goes toward enhancing and protecting our nation's wetlands.

An Artist Proof edition of 50 is also available through the Mathios Studios website.
