Artist's Description:  A handsome male cardinal rests on a gray day.  However, his brilliant plumage and the budding apple blossoms hint of better weather ahead.  The detailed lichens and mosses were added because they both naturally occur on apple branches and because the greens are a nice compliment to the red plumage.
