Artist's Description:   A pair of handsome drake wigeon grace the 2010 Texas Duck Stamp.  Wigeon are shallow water dabbling ducks but are known to hang around flocks of deep diving ducks.  They patiently wait on the surface of the water for an unsuspecting diver to surface with a meal, then steal it.  Common throughout the winter, these wigeon in this paitnign stand in relaxed attitudes in a shallow, tule-filled backwater.  The water and lighting reflects the overcast, calm weather.  The wigeon's unique three syllabled whistles, white crown and white wing patches make them easily identifiable both in flight and in the field.
